Scrollwork Is Not a Record: Decoration Around a Document

October 13, 2026 · GlobalAiPronIndex Journal

Fictional 28-year-old muse in a burnt-orange satin corset before a plain oval cartouche frame at GlobalAiPronIndex

The scrollwork on this frame is honest about what it is: ornament, curling pleasantly around an edge, documenting nothing. The failure it guards against is the opposite arrangement — a studio whose records are ornamental and whose ornament is asked to serve as the record, ending with gorgeous frames of the wrong woman.

The card inside the frame is the documentation. Its five lines are measurements, written plainly, without adjectives doing the work of facts. “Elegant” is scrollwork; “hair in long polished waves” is documentation. Prompts inherit the same discipline: the card paragraph is kept factual and pasted verbatim, and all the poetry is confined to the changing line, where it can do no harm.

Judging follows the same split. A portrait is first read as a document — does it match the card, line by line? Only portraits that pass as documents are then admired as decoration, and only those are repaired, swapped or upscaled.

Let the frame curl and the record stay plain. The wall is honest about which of its objects is which, and the work is better for it.
